Welcome to my travel series called "I'm Trippin", where we explore some of my favorite destinations I have traveled to. Buckle up and enjoy the ride because its going to be a good one!
Japan Fun Facts:
Official Language: Japanese
Currency: Japanese Yen
I was fortunate enough to take a 6 month deployment to Yokosuka Japan, and let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. I never really had a desire to go to Japan, but looking back I am so glad I did. This is not an all inclusive list, and this is solely based on my experience in Japan for the 6 months I was there.
Imagine you're hopping off the plane, and arrive in Tokyo.
日本へようこそ (Welcome to Japan!)
Unique Experiences ユニークな体験
The Robot Restaurant Show ロボットレストラン
Very bizarre to say the least. Located in Tokyo, and one of the most popular tourist destinations. If you are ever in the area I would definitely recommend stopping by. For more information click here to go to their website.
The Geisha Experience 芸者体験
My friend scheduled a dinner with authentic Japanese Geisha's through the company Japan Awaits. When I tell you this a once in a lifetime experience, this is something that I will never forget! The women told their stories, and performed for us, all while we dined and learned the history of Geisha's in Japanese culture.
Musashino Owl Cafe 武蔵野フクロウカフェ
No reservation needed. Walked right in and got to see the most adorable and precious owls ever. They are very chill, and seem to be well taken care of. Click here to view the website.
Dining Experiences ダイニング体験
Gram Cafe & Pancake グラムカフェ＆パンケーキ
I literally had to wait three hours for these pancakes. They only allow a limited amount of people inside and once those seats are filled, you have to wait until the next time slot. The slots fill up extremely fast, so getting there early, and I mean early, is key. Let me tell you though, those pancakes were everything!!! I waited three hours, to eat them in less than twenty minutes. Im greedy lol. If you are ever in Tokyo, go to Gram Cafe & Pancake, you will not be disappointed.
Tapas Molecular Bar タパス分子バー
Now when you talk about a once in a lifetime eating experience, I am talking about tapas molecular bar. Molecular food is the contemporary art of gastronomy. Unlike any other dining experience I've ever had, I had the luxury of going with a good friend TWICE, and although pricey it was worth every penny, and then some. They offer alcoholic and non alcoholic drink pairings. The ambiance and service is amazing, and the views are breathtaking. Meticulously thought out, and expertly executed. If I could sum this up I would coin it as the Cirque du Soleil of food. (I can not take credit for that last part, I talked to my friend who went with me and she gave me that little nugget, thanks Tamika!) There were around 15 courses, and each and every one was amazing. I am a pescatarian who does not like chocolate (do not judge) so they catered to my needs to a tee. Now check out the videos below, and their website here. Prepare to be amazed!
Aoyama Flower Market Tea House 青山フラワーマーケットティーハウス
Beautiful flower shop that couples as a tea house and restaurant. If you are looking for a place with beautiful scenery, and good food, this is the place. If you are in the area, you must check it out. Check the website here for more information.
Totti Candy Factory トッティキャンディファクトリー
Do you have a sweet tooth? Well no worries there, I could not forget about you. Four words. Gigantic Rainbow Cotton Candy. What else needs to be said? Check the website here.
Warning. Anytime you see anything that says "Sticky Ingredients", do not, I repeat DO NOT order it. My friend and I went to a mall, and it sounded pretty healthy. I tend to be a texture person sometimes, so I can not eat things because of texture. Heads up, this is not the most appetizing entree featured here.
Hotel Coco Grand Ueno Shinobazu ホテルココグラン上野不忍
Let me tell you about Japan lodging. They get it right. Their facilities are top of the line, and I returned to America spoiled, and wanting to purchase a Japanese toilet for my house. Needless to say, I did not follow through with the Japanese style toilet, but I will have one in the future. Convenient many attractions, and top of the line amenities, it is definitely worth checking out. Check their website here.
Bali An Resort Kinshicho (Adults Only) Tokyo バリアンリゾート錦糸町（大人専用）東京
Prior to Bali An, I had never stayed at an Adults Only hotel. It seemed a little sketchy only because the whole place smelled of cigarettes and you could purchase the rooms by the hour. It was pretty reasonable, and within walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The best part was the free wine and desserts that were in the lobby the entire time. The desserts were delicious, and I am a certified wino, so I could never go wrong there.
I hope you have enjoyed my first installment of "I'm Trippin'". I intend on doing a part two in the future because Japan offers so much, and I could spend days typing up everything interesting about Japan. What do you think family? Comment below if you want to see a part two to I'm Trippin' in Japan.
Remember years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do, than by the things you did. My time has come to close out this installment of I'm Trippin'.
Until next time my Nautical Tripper Family. Stay Woke, Stay Humble, and Stay Trippin'.
